YOU WON'T FIND THIS SET ANYWHERE ELSE, BUT CIRCUIT CADENCE!

Not that it needed it, but this brand new Mix Set by DJ Bryan Reyes seems to signify the figurative "nail in the coffin" for me, when it comes to evaluating the Saturday night party "option" for this weekend's spectacular New Year's circuit celebration in LA!

It's been a long time since L.A. has had a series of parties that could begin to resemble the typical "circuit weekend" format party-goers have come to identify with/expect. With L.A. Pride perennially falling in the shadow of Gay Days and White Party Palm Springs and San Diego Pride doing more to draw the WeHo Boys away from town for "local" events that could satisfy such a huge market, it would seem that New Year's falling on a weekend this year has succeeded in cutting through all that baggage to unravel an impressive sequence of parties that can rival any of the other great weekends of the year.

The same thigns that have always plagued the L.A. circuit still exist, like the presence of multiple promoters across competing events, but for once it seems to be having a much more cathartic effect than a cannabilizing one. There have been grumblings about the same ole manipulative bullshit from some promoters, bourne out of oddities in the ticket sales process for the main event, but by in large the party-boys themselves seem to be far too focused on enjoying themselves than letting any promoter-drama distract them year!

One such personal example is that I ultimately had to ban a promoter from our fan page because he wanted to repetitiously post items to the news feed after blocking me from viewing them. It wasn't worth some big ordeal on my part, one that ultimately just puts him in a position of feeling more important than he is and drawing more attention to his events at the end of the day, so a one-click ban and all remains quiet on the Western front, so to speak. I figure my audience is way to smart to be bothered by phony games, and its not like my opinion and endorsed events haven't been made abundantly clear up to this point!

That said, maybe becuse I've been surrounded by so much fantastic music lately, that the therapeutic and meditative benefits of such, have centered me. After listening to this set, you tell me if there's much of anything you could have done to make it better. I felt like it was a programming style uncannily similar to one I would have done myself. Alll the more anxious to hear Bryan live for my first time, on Saturday. Hope to see you there!!!

[Side note: No one loves dissenting opinion and healthy debate more than me. I would never censor my audience, but would ask the simple courtesy that I be included in the conversation, or for it not to take place on my pages. LOL. Anyway, my blog has commenting capabilities, totally un-moderated, as does the facebook group page (try the discussion boards!), and that's not to even mention the live chat feature on our private site. Let's keep the circuit fun, shall we? Much love! XO]

13. Ralphi Rosario Feat. Suzanne Palmer - Remembering You (Ralphi's Hard Dub)

So, New Year's Eve in Los Angeles is going to be an incredible experience this year! The legendary Mayan Theatre is my personal favorite circuit venue and never disappoints, so add to that the 10th Anniversary of Masterbeat's NYE Celebration, the musical talents of Ralphi & Abel (as Rosabel) and further consider the jaw-dropping spectacle that is the Audio-Video Countdown show (which I'm particularly excited for since this year's music was put together by good friends and favorite remixers), and you've got all the makings of a historic event! And I didn't even mention the throngs of hot men, by the thousands, or the countless other factors that make the Mayan so special. It's a given, NYE is: THE MAYAN!

But once the party is started on a Thursday, who's going to want it to stop? We've got a whole weekend to turn into a party! There will be tons of out of towners visiting, and there are lots of events going on. So here's my personal itinerary/breakdown:

Question #1: Where should we go after the Mayan is over? I've still got some dance in me!

Well there are two major choices, the affiliated event is as always @ Arena and the DJ this year is Manny Lehman. But, luckily for me there is a more appealing option (in my humble opinion): Scandal is throwing a special after hours event with none other than the great DJ/Remixer/Producer: ALEXANDER! An LA favorite and rising circuit superstar (Congratulations on being booked for Winter Party's Saturday Night event!). I personally find the Arena venue very unintimate and cold and despite great memory's in my circuit past of great Manny events, his inability to impress in recent years leaves me unexcited. Then the substantially higher ticket price for that event just seems to seal the deal for me.

Question #2: What about Friday and Saturday Nights, then?

Friday is a bit of a gimme, since there is essectially just the one event, also a Masterbeat affiliated event, Brett Henrichsen will spin @ the Avalon in Hollywood. If you make it through NYE and after hours and haven't fallen on your face by Friday night, then this is the place to be!

Saturday presents another great head to head, though. Paulo will be spinning @ The Factory in West Hollywood while Bryan Reyes makes his LA debut @ Friction in Silver Lake. If you are reading this then you obviously frequent the site, so it should come as no surprise that Bryan is my choice in this matchup. Paulo is great, but unfortunately being spoiled as I am, he spins quite often here in LA. Conversely, Bryan puts out more of the "circuit" style remixes of the hottest new tracks on a consistent basis than almost anyone, and I'm excited to hear live, the sounds so commonly playing on the iPods of circuit boys across the world! There's always talk of DJ styles, be it "bubble gum," "tribal," "dark," etc., but remember what music was like in the early 2000's on the circuit? I call that sound simply: CIRCUIT. Bryan embodies that sound to a T and I'm excited to hear the music old and new that has that same happy, hard, vocal and deep energy that is the root of my falling in love with the circuit!

So, those are my two cents, for what they're worth. No matter what you happen to be doing this coming New Year's, I wish you a happy and safe one! Hopefully we can share a dance! XO

There are some great tracks that I've actually been anxiously anticipating and am so happy to have just in time for my birthday! *(The former spinning together @ the "coolest space on the circuit" Mayan Theatre on New Year's Eve and the latter headlining the Saturday night FRICTION that continues its impressive roster of imported DJs from all over the world!)

NOTE: This version of "MOIST" is not accompanied by individual download links. This is not a permanent change to the process, but a special circumstance.

Because some songs are designated as "private" by the DJ or label, I am often times unable to present the version that is the best, in my opinion, because I am waiting for permission to come from the DJ or label. Sometimes that permission never comes, and even if it doesn, it is generally so delayed that any memory of, or interest in, the song is long gone.

SMoving forward, every once in a while I will switch formats and present an edition of "MOIST" or re-"MOIST"-urized, that will be a continuous mix-set, instead of seperate files. This will enable me to get you the private remixes while they are still relevant, but to do so while honoring any conditions the DJ or label may stipulate inn advance. In general, widespread distribution is dismissed as a concern because mixsets are difficult to extrapolate individual songs from, and also because of their size, they are of a lower quality bitrate.

Reception to the mixed sets so far has been surprisingly great, with way more downloaders than typical of the compilation sets of the past. Hopefully they will become more and more enjoyable for you as well, as I continue to try to figure out what the hell I'm doing.

I was "dancing" in the dark w/ Alejandro when we saw a Monster taking pictures with his Telephone

It was bound to happen, with over 11,000 songs in my iTunes currently and the rate at which I am constantly going through files to review tracks and delete duplicates and garbage, I was updating my tags too quickly and mislabeled Monster in that last set, which a lot of you caught. I updated the sites pretty quickly so hopefully no one is too confused over it. Everything else was right, including the remixer and such, just it was titled wrong.

If you haven't been back to the site since yesterday's tracks went out, go check out the Lady Gaga Megamix and the remixes of Alejandro and Telephone that I posted this morning!

As promised, here is the second installment of "MOIST" right away. As I mentioned its a bit of a departure from textbook circuit sound, but I think you'll enjoy it nonetheless, as there are some great tracks.

Up next: Some great new remixes of the fall's biggest hits!

"MOIST" V.Dec.09.Pt.1 | "Birthday Festivus 4 The Bestivus!"

First off, my apologies for being absent from any and all signs of life the past couple of weeks. Between the holiday, travel, White Party, and being sick, I've purposefully kept my laptop at an arm's length - and I won't lie - it was a nice respite!

Of course, with setting aside of tasks, comes accumulation of tasks - so now I'm a bit buried in emails and catch-up in general, and I haven't even begun to determine how I'm going to proceed with my Windows 7 upgrade in the midst of it all. But music reigns supreme!

I am excited that my birthday month has already been brimming with music, since that accumulation of work has also meant an accumulation of fun goodies to share with you all. Right away the list was too long, so I decided to do two parts back to back, with this being the first.

True to the "MOIST" standard, this is what you'd come to expect - the newest and hottest tracks you can look forward to invading dance floors around the circuit in the coming weeks and months. The second list will be ready tonight or tomorrow, and is a lot more of a traditional "House" sound than circuit per se, but there are some HOT tracks that I couldn't go without sharing with those who have been asking for it.

Plus, next week I'll be sending some incredible remixes of previously shared tracks that have since had exceptionally better remixes surface, which you can keep an eye out for as: re"MOIST"urize V.Dec.09.

PS - My apologies if you were one of the persons who had difficulties downloading songs from my host in the past couple of days. Because I was not regularly online and monitoring everything, the share feature had defaulted back off and I wasn't at the ready to catch it right away. Everything should be smooth sailing at this stage.

As always, here is the playlist, and you can preview and/or download by going to the home page: http://www.circuitcadence.com

1. Lady Gaga - Monster (Dark Intensity Remix)
2. Lasgo - Over You (Extended Mix)
3. Aqua - Back To The 80's (Pizza Club) [DJ Tool's 2009 Remix]
4. Girls Can't Catch - Echo (Nu Addiction Club Mix)
5. Little Boots - Remedy (Kaskade Club Remix)
6. Keri Hilson - I Like (Manhattan Clique Remix)
7. Chipmunk - Look For Me (Red Top Extended Vocal Version)
8. Timbaland Vs. Thomas Gold - Morning After Vs. Shake It (Steve Frank Mash)
9. Antoine Clamaran - When The Sun Goes Down (Gonzalo Menoyo Remix)
10. Black Eyed Peas - Meet Me Halfway (Richard Vission Solmatic Remix)
11. Spencer & Hill - Love My Money (Paul George Bootleg)
12. BoA - Energetic (Mike Rizzo Funk Generation Club Mix)
13. Hi Tack - It's Gonna Be Allright (Remix)
14. Swen Weber & Salvatore Mancuso - Feel The Beat (Jewelz Remix)
15. Whigfield Vs. Scotty - Last Christmas 2010 (Caribbean's Bootleg Mix)

TIPS:
*The site works better with Firefox as your browser!

*Make sure your flash and adobe plugins are up to date!

*The box that displays the files for each list is scrollable, so more songs and files can be seen by scrolling within the box, the way you would a browser window.

*You can access a song's features by moving your cursor so it hovers over that song title, within the box. This will illuminate a blue icon displaying a down facing arrow. Click this arrow once to reveal a drop down menu, where you can choose "Play" to hear the song or "Download" to save it to your local drive.

*You can save time from downloading songs one by one, by downloading the larger bundled file that is included with each set listing. This bundled file contains all of the tracks from that set. Once you have downloaded the file, you will need to use a program like winZip or WinRAR, to "extract" or "unzip" the contents so they are recognizable to your computer and/or mobile device.

Thanks 4 Giving Tony on Turkey Day

I threw this together this morning because I'm so excited to hear my favorite DJ, Tony Moran, twice this week! First at Scandal in Hollywood on Wednesday, then at the White Party in Miami for the main event! This is a great set of songs, and I had to leave a ton off. Look at the significance in the songs he's produced and name one DJ that's been as relevant as Tony in the past decade. Maybe for brief spurts, and maybe he hasn't demanded the same type of diva fanfare as some of his peers, but he is constantly improving, endlessly innovating, and unfailingly reliable. This is a DJ!!!

  1. Michael Jackson - Blood on the Dance Floor (Tony Moran O-Positive Dub)
  2. Tony Moran & Ric Sena pres Zhana Saunders - Waiting For Alegria (Deep Influence Club Mix)
  3. Darren Hayes - Step Into The Light (Tony Moran Full Mix)
  4. New Life Crisis - Daylight (Tony Moran Mix)
  5. Elizabeth Withers - Risin (Tony Moran Anthem)
  6. Nicki Richards - Freedom (Tony Moran Full Club Mix)
  7. Debby Holiday - Surrender Me (Tony Moran & Warren Rigg Hail The Divas Radio Edit)
  8. Kristine W. - Walk Away (Tony Moran Anthem Mix)
  9. Kevin Aviance - Give It Up(Tony Moran Annual Mix)
  10. Raw Deal - Party Time [Tony Moran Remix]
  11. Nicki Richards - Bring The Love (Tony Moran & Warren Rigg Anthem Mix)
  12. Madonna - Jump (Tony Moran & JDB Jzabehl Mix)
  13. Tony Moran pres. Deborah Cooper - Live You All Over (Offer Nissim Remix) [Vinyl]
  14. Gustavo Santaolalla - The Wings [Theme from Brokeback Mountain] (Tony Moran and Warren Rigg Club Mix)

White Party, White Party, White Party!

It's all about the White Parties right now. The 25th Anniversary of the world's largest AIDS fundraiser is next week in Miami and this spring's White Party in Palm Springs has officially announced its risky and drastic reformatting to the jubilation of some and the discontent of others.

First things first, we're all here for the music, so I'll cut to the chase with this update which includes something for everybody for the upcoming holiday weekend! And we have a VERY special treat for you all coming next week, to kick off the White Party festivities in proper fashion (its a surprise!)! As always, the downloads are on the homepage: http://www.circuitcadence.com/

1. Madonna - Dance 2night (Peter Rauhofer Club Mix) (Part 1)
2. Whitney Houston - I Look To You (DJ Paulo vs Ridney & James Talk)
3. Madonna Feat. Junior Vasquez - If Madonna Calls (Offer Nissim Remix)
4. Beyonce - Why Don’t You Love Me (Jump Smokers Remix)
5. Outsiders Feat. Amanda Wilson - Keep This Fire Burning (Freemasons Remix)
6. Pet Shop Boys - My Girl (our house remix)
7. Moby - Disco Lies (Freemasons Remix)
8. Lolene - Sexy People (Mike Rizzo Funk Generation Club Mix)
9. Billie Myers - Wonderful (Cajjmere Wray Club Mix)
10. Beyonce Feat. Lady Gaga - Video Phone (Fabrico Private Mix)
11. Pixi Lott - Cry Me Out (Bimbo Jones Club Mix)
12. Amy Pearson - Butterfingers (Wawa Remix)
13. Dana International - Cinque Milla (Jhon Velazquez Private Remix)
14. Oscar Velazquez - The Fucking Dancefloor (Scorpio Burn the Floor Mix)
15. Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You (Mariah's New Dance Mix)

Now, if you haven't heard - The White Party Palm Springs in April is hardly recognizable in contrast to prior years which saw a well developed formula executed similarly each year. Gone are the Rosabel closing party, the familiar DJs doing the familiar events, and the comfort of knowing what you're getting yourself into each event. In are the international DJ's: The Freemason's, Moto Blanco, and Chus & Ceballos. Also, in an effort to build up a commonly dismissed Friday night event, Abel is opening up the main portion of the weekend with the Friday underwear party.

Is all of that good or bad?

Well, clearly its both. For every person excited by change and looking forward to new experiences and new sounds by new artists and the new energy, there's going to be those that complain about fixing something that wasn't necessarily broken. Thats the thing, you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't. WPPS is not exactly the most economical ticket on the circuit, and its not for charity, so you can see why there's a high expectation that every year present a "wow." Last year I loved the fact that Lady Gaga was announced in advance rather than the games of rumor of prior years, and there were other rooms with standard music while she was on stage, but those queens damned if they didn't complain about her being on stage for too long.

It remains to be seen if the reputations and expectations of these international DJs will boost attendance and whether they can live up to the hype, but for anyone excited to hear something new and fresh I think the potential is quite astounding!

Your Disco Needs You! ^&^ She Speaks Circuit Queen Fluently! (Yes a real "she!")

A couple of weeks ago I decided to go to Alexa.com for more than just the brief overview of circuitcadence.com, but actually spent a good bit of time inputting the domains of any circuit related website I could think of (it turned out to be 40 off the top of my head, so nothing scientific or anything). When I was done and looked at the comparative result, I hadn't expected to see that out of those 40 sites (many of which I LOVE to visit myself) we were 14th in traffiic, based on the global scale [because some sites didn't have US numbers]. OfferNissim.com and Partylist.com, two sites I personally love, were virtually tied with us!

In just a year, with no revenues, and no marketing budget, just a grassroots personal pleasure derived from getting as many people as possible interested in dance music, and I was a little impressed that there'd been such a warm response. So, this is where I segue into asking for something in return. I lose money every month just paying for hosting, file storage, design templates, etc., and am HAPPY to do so, given the end result and the emotional feedback I've received from so many people already. But, I'd LOVE it if there were even more people who had access to what I'm already spending time on anyway.

That's where you come in, please set aside a few minutes to go to the group page, click on "invite people to join" and send an invite to any of your friends you think would enjoy the group. Or, if you don't want to spend a minute doing that, feel free to spend a minute clicking on the "donate" button on the home page, and instead I'll just apply any contributions received directly to an overhead expense incurred by maintaining the site. Thanks for everything, including the willingness to care what the hell I have to say from time to time, lol!

Now, back to me doing things for you, the way it was intended!

Certainly, one of the factors to things going so well is credited to the amazing DJs who have partnered with us in one capacity or another, such as Alex Acosta giving us our first ever "Exclusive" back in February and Michael Paul lending his skills for the production of our first continuous mix-sets, and the countless other examples. Most recently I was lucky enough to get to know Amy Alderman much better, and it has been awesome to get a little bit of perspective into the person behind the music I've been enjoying for a little over a year now.

I can even pinpoint the exact moment in time that I heard her name for the first time, Summer of '08 at my friend Dan's pool party in the Valley, and the song was working me over, only to puzzle me when the iPod display said Amy Alderman was the remixer and I'd never heard the name to that point. Intrigued I promptly went to find more info on trusty google, and nothing! It ended up surfacing just a few months later, and then I was seeing her name everywhere, mostly as a collaborative DJ/Producer on tracks alongside Bryan Reyes.

Clearly a good bit of it is natural talent, but I can't help but think it couldn't have hurt to have a mentor such as him! Here we are a year later, when I would have probably dismissed the possibility that a female DJ could connect with the gays like we've come to expect from the greats, and now I'm a believer. You'll undoubtedly agree once you listen to the following set she just completed yesterday! From the sounds of it, I think she speaks fluent Circuit Queen, don't you?!

It's front and center on the homepage, to be streamed from your browser, or downloaded directly. http://www.circuitcadence.com

By the way, catch Bryan Reyes' remix of Russian Roulette she included in the set. It's a private remix, so I can't send it out to you guys for the time being, but alternatively he is sharing the radio edit with anyone who wants it, just go to his fan page and click on the link...

That version of "Release Me" is FUCKING FIERCE too! Enjoy!

LOTS of New Downloads & Some Housekeeping

I don't even think this one qualifies as a "message," its more of a newsletter, or even Cliff's Notes than that. There's a lot, so I'll try to ramble less than usual, and I've put it in an outline that makes it easyar to see if you'd prefer to skip over a given section!

***almost "DRENCHED"***
Main page: http://www.circuitcadence.com

I knew if I had made the "best of" album the way it realistically could have been argued it should have been, then it would have been unimaginative, probably a little annoying to DJs, and certainly would have come across as just another Offer Nissim tribute album. So, I didn't, but let's face it - that bitch can turn out a track - be it on his own merit or those he surrounds himself in the studio, that bitch knows how to turn out a track! So, I decided to do an honorable mention edition of "DRENCHED", appropriately: "almost DRENCHED." . There's some Offer and some other good stuff, I think "Love" is technically over a year old, but I'm throwing bias in on that one, cuz I love it. Enjoy!

1. Yinon Yahel & Ronen Mizrahi
-Hot Around Mexico (Tsahi & Eliko/Yaron Knochen) [Circuit Cadence Dramatic Intro Edit]
2. Leo Granieri - When U Touch Me (Allan Natal Extended Dub Remix)
3. Madonna - It's So Cool (Mike Danavan's Filthy Tao Club Mix)
4. Offer Nissim Feat. Epiphony - Out Of My Skin (Blanco Negro Remix)
5. Johnny Holiday - Que Je T'aime (Offer Nissim Remix)
6. Offer Nissim Feat. Epiphany - Believe (Original Mix)
7. Rockell - Love (Yinon Yahel Remix)

***NEW DJ MIX-SETS GALORE!!!***
DJ Page: http://www.circuitcadence.com/DJ.html

I finally got around to the DJ page and updated it, which was in major need! We have sets from the following (and don't miss the new upload box, where you can submit a set for consideration to be posted as well. Want to take the "consideration" part out of the equation? Join "My Cadence" and upload anything you want and get your voice out as you want it to be voiced.)

DJ Patrick Guay (Montreal)
DJ Michael Tank (Miami)
DJ James Adams (San Diego)
DJ Byron Bonsall (San Francisco)
DJ Michael Pelletier (Los Angeles)
DJ Frayz (Minneapolis)
DJ Danny White (Toronto)
DJ Sharon O'Love (London)
DJ Jerry Griffith (Kansas City)

***NEW Site Layout***
We've gotten so big and have multiple sites now, so it may be confusing to some, especially new arrivals. I've assigned a specific color to each sub-site and then identified what they all mean/do at the top of the main site, as a cheat sheet. If you see your current page has a green logo its the main page, yellow you're on the group pages, etc.

WHY IS THIS NECESSARY?
In the past two weeks I've had one friend who's entire Facebook account was deleted by Facebook without explanation, another friend's blog was shut down by blogger, this diversification of location/structure/function and mechanism ensures that at any given point you won't lose track of us. Of course, our main page is hosted by us, so its not like anyone can "shut it down" with the kind of frivolity as a blogger or facebook account, nonetheless its stability. Each site does also offer distinct benefits/features absent from the others as well, so we're better able to meet the needs of more of our audience as well.

***"My Cadence" Enrollment All November, then Closed until 2010***
http://www.circuitcadence.com/mycadence.html
http://www.tinyurl.com/mycadence
I've decided I will allow uncontested enrollment in the private and personalized forum: "My Cadence" throughout November, at which time all invitations will cease and enrollment links will deactivate until January, when new registrations will include thorough review of each applicant and more stringent terms and conditions/indemnification agreements. So join now or forever hold your peace, so to speak. LOL.

Thanks and have a great weekend!

DOWNLOAD NOW! | "DRENCHED" V.2 | DJ Michael Paul | Circuit Cadence's Bday

[To skip the article and download right away, visit:] http://www.circuitcadence.com

It's official, "Circuit Cadence" in its current, organized context, is now beginning its second year of operation! We just added our very own social community, "My Cadence," and over the months have steadily progressed to provide more and more people with better and friendlier features! That includes our blog, our facebook group and fan pages, and this constantly expanding site itself. We now provide a local preview for the LA scene, every week, that slices through all of the frivolity and focuses on the best musical ticket out there. We continue to be excited by opportunities that have been presenting themselves to partner with DJs on exclusive mix-set offerings, by promoters as presenting sponsor, and through cross-promotion with fellow circuit sites!

A few of you have asked what the deal is with the "C" in our name. It actually has a few meanings, but most importantly its being called out as a reminder of what the CirCuit is about: Community, Creativity, Celebration & Charity. I tend to enjoy the celebration and community ones the most, which is evident in the music! Continuing on the great success of our first venture into the "mix-set" format internally, we've been happy to team up with DJ Michael Paul again and continue the "DRENCHED" series.

This new episode looks back over the past 12 months in Cadence and picks out the select few tracks that in my opinion are the likely inductees into "anthem" status. Songs we will look back upon with great memory and enduring excitement, not the ones we quickly hit "next track" on when they happen to pop up in our genius play lists! Think of it as a yearbook of sorts, but if you start to save these in your collections, you might just be surprised how not tired of these you are, even though they've been played all year. And years down the road you'll find yourself as MOIST as ever!

Thanks again to DJ Michael Paul! Visit him on Facebook. Enjoy the set!!!

Happy Halloween,

John Longo

"MOIST" V.Oct.09.Pt.4 | "Happy Hallow-queen!" Edition

So, after a welcome mini-hiatus from updates and emails and site changes hopefully everyone is ready for some new music now! There's some fun stuff on here that will be perfect for holding you over until the mix-set we're working on right now is ready for next weekend's release! It's V.2 of the unexpectedly monster success of the first in the "DRENCHED" series, back in September (and it's still getting downloads!).

This one will be an all-star, hall of fame, "best-of" chronicle of the innaugural year of Cadence! I'm certain you'll be impressed with the continuous mix session, which will look back on all of that music that accrued (I've had this laptop only since February and iTunes is indicating a 29 day running time before it would have to loop back to the top!), and call out only the best of the best, "anthem" qualifying tracks that possess that permanency you associate with songs like "Rhythm Is A Dancer," "Someone to Hold," "Absolutely Not" and the like. Let's face it, no matter how great you thought the Pussycat Dolls "When I Grow Up" was 12 months ago, its probably not getting into your rotation much anymore, and even if it is - it certainly isn't getting club play!

Look for Halloween weekend to "serperate the men from the boys," so to speak, in revealing the real, substantive, and lasting songs/remixes that define the memories and the history of the circuit, in contrast to the songs that we loved "in the moment." (At least as far as it relates to my humble opinion).

Did I accomplish anticipation and/or suspense at all? We'll see if it lives up or not, next weekend! ;-) In the meantime...

Special Edition: Atlantis Mexican Riviera Cruise | If There's A Site With Better Music I'd Like to See It!

Not to create any undue suspense, but I'm walking away from the computer for the evening and the uploads/updates are still running. I could have waited until tomorrow to announce it, but I think this is my favorite bunch of songs all year, so I couldn't wait. Obviously Dollhouse & Party in the USA are just like any other of that mold, and they'll go away pretty quickly, but aside from unavoidable commercial tracks making their way into each list, this one has a few really exceptional remakes of already incredible songs.

Mr. Charming is my favorite song of the year, just barely overtaking "Boom" by Anjulie, just a couple weeks ago. Then I hear what Bryan Reyes was able to do with it even further, and I was a goner. I'm soooo A.D.D. and it says something that I can pretty much just have that track on repeat and be a happy camper. Then you've got Mariah's "I Wanna Know What Love Is" and a version of "Battlefield" that is in a whole other league from its predecessors, and it makes for a really fun listen, start to finish. I know I pick the lists, but even I skip around based on my mood, this one I've had no problem just letting it go.

That said, the uploads should be complete within a couple hoours at the most, but in the meantime here's the playlist and just lookout for the site to complete updating over the course of the evening.

If you load up your iPod with CirCuitCadenCe.Com music prior to heading for the cruise, you're sure to be the impressive one amongst your friends/tricks. :-)

"MOIST" V.Oct.09.Pt.2 | Get N 2 the CirCuitry: 2009

So this exact same Facebook group you are a member of today, began a year ago, in November of '08, as a small collection of friends whom I had similar groupings with on other social networking sites over the years, such as CircuitLink on Connexion and Circuit Connect on Friendster. I had every reason to believe the group would behave very similarly to the way those predecessors of it had; to more or less keep in touch with distant friends I'd met around the circuit, but who otherwise would have little "real" forces ensuring their ongoing contact. As we all know now, and no one had predicted at about this time last year (including Facebook themselves), Facebook is not just any social networking site, it is an evolution in human communication and a phenomenon of inconceivable accomplishments in growth speed and reach.

Talk about hitting a wave and letting it ride, in retrospect I still can hardly wrap my head around everything that has occurred in such a short amount of time. This "little group" now encompasses a full featured website, a blog, a burgeoning group with an enrollment approaching 1,600, a relatively young fan page that is already an active part of the everyday feeds of over 800 people, and an undeniable voice within the gay dance community (witnessed by the exponential site growth figures and dominance among similarly focused sites - not to mention the publicly visible temper tantrums of certain notorious DJs & even an overly dramatic promoter or two here and there).

I've actually yet to have even a single "complaint" regarding any action I've taken personally from an opinion standpoint or for a practice the site employs as an entity. In fact, the exact opposite has overwhelmingly indicated that at-large, we all just want our music, free of the politics, drama and greed of whomever the spotlight at a present moment may be focused on. Then when I consider how involved the artists have been in engaging in dialog and volunteering their newest works for all of us to share, and its been so gratifying!

So, in celebration of our final weeks before we are officially a full year old*, we've got two BIG sets, the first of which you'll see below, and the latter to post later in the week/weekend. Each are a mixture of BRAND new tracks and legendary anthems, some hard some dark, some light some bubble, you will all find something you love. For me, I love to see different ways I view each list, based on where I am, who I'm with, what my mood is, etc. So with that thought, if you question a song at first listen, I ask that you just go back to it once in another environment, and see if you get it then. Since I even change tastes within the same day, myself, I can only imagine its going to happen every now and again "out there" as well. Also, a LOT of the times people ask me about where to get a specific track, it was a song that had previously been on the list already. Meaning, there is a good likelihood they heard it and discarded it back then, only to find that it grew on them over time.

There are some real treats on this one, so please do enjoy, like the new Britney and some Offer Nissim goodies I haven't sent before! Get out into the CirCuitry! Happy Dancing!

The Circuit’s Newest Frontier Returns the Favor, Introduces America to a Sensation of Their Own

By John Longo

Without question, the region seeing the biggest growth in circuit popularity is Asia! What all started in 2001 as 1500 gay men and lesbians congregating in Singapore for a now legendary series of parties known as NATION, has developed into the world’s most diverse, multicultural and fastest evolving "pink" market. That initial event paved the way for what is now credited as the regional inspiration for the transformation of the gay community into the circuit force it is today.

GCircuit and Mighty Asia, two new mega-event promoters which have emerged since 2007, have evolved the NATION model (which from its more modest beginnings accrued staggering crowds of 8,000 revelers, at its peak) and continue to provide LGBT party-goers the same opportunities to experience live sets from music icons such as Offer Nissim, Edson Pride, Paulo plus a host of other top international DJs.

"We mustn’t forget that we’ve got a long way to go in terms of recognizing LGBT rights in the region," warns Stuart Koe from Fridae.com (Asia’s leading gay web portal and organizer of NATION), "so in a sense I think the circuit parties are a release valve for many gay men and lesbians who want to vent their frustrations and feel free within their own community."

It makes sense that among this innovation and entrepreneurial emergence of, and within, the Asian circuit market, the stage has been set for the advancement of "home-grown" Asian DJ talent as well. DJs such as Big Kid, Louis T, Shigeki and Princess Ann are in high demand having successfully crafted their signature styles and cultivated their fanbase throughout Asia. Add to that the continued globalization of the world, particularly via social media networks like Facebook, and it was simply a matter of time before the West developed a taste for experiencing some of those unique, fresh sounds, on a domestic stage.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting DJ Big Kid in person, at Scandal’s Labor Day event in Los Angeles, and further enjoyed the chance to share dance floor real estate at the Mayan later in the weekend. Thanks to Facebook I was already knowledgeable of his talents, but it is always great to see in person that an artist is as gracious and genuine a person as you'd hope. It’s no surprise then that he has spent the better part of the past month in preparation for his official American debut! Big Kid has been announced as the headline act at the historic EndUp in San Francisco, on October 24th, joining the ranks of an impressive roster of the circuit's best DJs who have spun that space over the years before him.
Thanks to the generosity of Big Kid himself, the hard work of his manager, and the overwhelming support of my friend Jesse Perry of WeHoParty, it is incredibly exciting to announce yet another CirCuitCadenCe.Com & WeHoParty collaboration...

We bring you Big Kid’s brand new mix-set, here and ONLY here!

Then, this morning to the home page of the website, a phenomenal collection of Offer Nissim's 2009 remixes, although in a confusing curve ball, it includes Peter's version of Whitney's debut track from the new album, rather than the controversial Offer Nissim version that made waves this summer!

We're excited to share another great mix-set with you this week, but you'll have to keep a close eye. Trust me, you'll want to - its one of the world's rising circuit sensations, and CirCuitCadenCe.Com has the EXCLUSIVE!!!!

MOIST V.Sep.09.Pt.3 SD2LA

First off - if you have recently written me a facebook message, I am so sorry! I am not ignoring you - and I WILL respond to EVERYONE as soon as I get the opportunity, but I have hundreds of unread messages & am simply unable to keep up the past few weeks.

I know its been a little longer than we've been accustomed to for music as well, but never fear - the wait has ended: I've put together some fun new tracks, some tracks that have been popular for a good part of the summer already, and then a few of those timeless anthems sprinkled about as well. Nothing too earth-shattering this round, but I've been having a lot of fun with what has become the soundtrack to my moving process!

Yep, I am knee deep in the re-location process, as I pack my shit in the theoretical paradise that is San Diego, and head permanently to the land of LA LA (which I think everyone knows isn't a paradise in the traditional sense, no matter how nice it looks when you're watching the Hills or the Kardashians!).

I think most of the people around me would tell you it was inevitable, but as always I just let things materialize in their own way. I wasn't going to wait around and waste time in a closed chapter, but I wasn't going to rush nature either. Lately though, the signs were all right in my face and I stared right back letting the signs know "Don't get loud with me, DO NOT GET LOUD WITH ME!"

Long story short, between finding a place to live and all of those other logistical elements, I've been constrained from just living in my headphones like normal. Hopefully you'll enjoy this set, the Mariah song didn't do it for me for the longest time, but when I found out in July that it was about Eminem, all the sudden it was much more fun to relate with. When love takes over needs to retire soon, before we ruin it, but my friend Jeffrey D (Minneapolis DJ) was so excited with this particular remix I thought it was worthy. Then I think you'll have a flashback or two when you get to the end, I know those songs hold weight with me.

Have a great weekend and HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRACIE & DJ!!!! Hopefully by the time you read this it will be tomorrow and you'll have already enjoyed a night out with me at Friction for DJ Alexander & MND Event's LA Birthday Bash for Gracie! XOXO

SPECIAL EDITION: REWINDING 2 A "DRY" TIME, B4 "MOIST"

It wasn't even a full year ago that the "MOIST" we're all familiar with was actually the far too long "Guaranteed to Make You 'MOIST.'" It was late November 2008 and I was only just registering for a Facebook account! Sure, I'd been making CD's in a similar format for friends in Minneapolis since years prior, but this was the start of something I had no idea was going where it has!

I had just a week or two prior had the thrill of my first Madonna concert (which was here in San Diego at Petco Park) and my bestest of friends in MN were just arriving in Miami for Thanksgiving weekend to catch her final show on the American segment, at Dolphin's Stadium. I knew they'd have "true blue" on repeat all weekend, but I figured I'd send them a care package with a CD the way I always used to.

Here's what came out, it is officially the very first "MOIST," unedited, altered, updated, or otherwise effected. You might notice the size of the audience for that first attempt was pretty select, many of the tracks had little more than 20 downloads, total, over these past 10 months. Those that did well will be obvious, so the download numbers become less relevant since people were likely just stumbling across a search result rather than actually seeking out this forum as a much needed and under supplied ACCESS to what it is our little niche community likes to listen to. It's kind of cool to see!

Um, wow... Tribal Much?! Download Labor LA's Hottest Weekend Tracks!

So I don't think its a stretch to say this past weekend in LA was HEAVILY tribal! Which, also shouldn't come as much of a surprise when you take a look at the DJ names being featured, the likes of Paulo, Ana Paula, Isaac Escalante & Alexander and a crowd hungry for the deep and overwhelming beats and enchanting aura I have always associated with a "pots and pans" style of rhythm and energy that is TRIBAL.

I had SOOO much fun dancing to this sub-genre of dance this weekend, that I just couldn't resist the urge to keep the weekend going into Monday night! I'm about to hit the road back home to San Diego, so at the moment its being posted solely as the bundled .rar folder inclusive of all the songs. Check back tomorrow for the individual tracks and embedded player(s) as well. You might recognize some of the names of these tracks, but I know if you were @ Scandal @ The Music Box and/or Hard Labor @ The Mayan this weekend, you'll recognize the tracks or at the very least enjoy the continuation of the dominant "theme" for the weekend I LOVED!

Track List ( download @ http://www.circuitcadence.com ):

1. David Guetta Ft. Tara McDonald - Delirious (Mor Avrahami Intro Full Mix)

2. Allan Natal feat Joe Welch - Total Eclipse of the Heart (Shayne B's Soundsystems Reconstruction)

3. Vanessa Hudgens - Come Back To Me (Chris Cox Club Mix)

4. Deadmau5 vs Melleefresh - Attention Whore (Zoltan Kontes and Jerome Robins Bootylicious Mix)

5. Blow Up - Let Me See You Underwear (Danny Verde Remix)

6. Isaac Escalante - Zambomba (Original Mix)

7. Dj Paulo Ft Lula - Twilo (Augusto Baeza Oh,Yeah Mash)

8. J Velarde, Luque, Vitti - Fuck Me Rich (Original Mix)

9. The Tamperer Feat. Maya - Feel It (Breno Barreto Private '09)

10. Tiesto pres. Alllure Feat. Juliete Thompson - Somewhere Inside Of Me (Love Groove Private Mix)

11. Ronen Mizrahi Feat. Einna - Muzzik (Original Club Mix)

12. Escape - Escape (Scummy Vocal Remix)

13. Red Carpet - Alright (Love Groove Almost Dub)

FINAL THOUGHT:
It was alarming to be confronted by a friend this weekend who inquired of me: "Is it true you were talking shit about [ed: so and so on so and so's] facebook wall?" The exaggerated topic of "shit talking" was actually my comment in response to a promoter's status update re: a DJ that had been booked for an upcoming event. In that comment I was sharing my opinion that I thought the named booking was, at worst - predictable and unimaginative - especially in a context of recent contributions to music.

Since I have frequently posted similar dialogue (i.e., my opinion) in the opposite fashion - which is to say thank you for exposing me to a new talent I'd never previously heard and very much enjoyed, it did not strike me as odd to come to the realization that opinions are just that, and are sooner or later going to not always be in-line with everyone at all times. Perhaps I took it for granted that people either don't know who I am and therefore wouldn't put weight in the statement, or that they know who I am and know my candor and honesty and that I'm extremely reasonable in my statements. Regardless of opinion, I have never once insinuated that my opinion is the right one or even gone so far as to encourage persons not to attend a particular appearance.

I think its also outrageous to consider the notion that accountability and integrity don't matter or shouldn't be discussed. From the countless and often emotional positive feedback I've received I haven't once been confronted with an instance where my statements were somehow disingenuous or malevolent. In fact, I trust that the success of this venture might indicate that I've demonstrated an ongoing fulfillment of unbiased and well-selected content and opinion?

This comment was weeks ago and totally in passing, I barely even remember it, and evidently it was worthy of conversation on at least a few occasions (which is hilariously silly, by the way). All I would ask of the membership is that if ever you doubt the genuine and sincere actions or statements of myself or the site in general, that you call me out right away. I'll be accountable for myself, I think its perhaps more frightening to others, however - that they might need to be accountable for themselves as well? Or do they? Who am I to say? Why does it even matter? It really DOESN'T have to be so much work to have fun!!!! This weekend's incredible events proved that, thanks and love!
